FAQ
You’ve got questions, I’ve got answers
Let’s make this easy!
I’m all about making the process of booking/working with me as stress-free as possible. If for some reason you can’t find what you’re looking for here please don’t hesitate to ask!
How long are your films typically?
The Toasts and Ceremony Films are the full length of their respected events. So if the ceremony is 30 minutes, the Ceremony Film will be 30 minutes long.
Highlight Films are usually: 2-5 minutes for elopements and 4-8 minutes for weddings. It all depends on what you have planned and the package you book
Teaser Films are about 1 minute in length
What is a Highlight Film?
A Highlight film takes all the very best parts of the day (including audio moments) and combining them into a film that flows and is super fun to watch! This is the film you most likely will share with everyone!
Do you offer discounts?
Yes! If you live in Hawaii you get a 10% off kamaʻaina rate
Where are you based and do you travel?
I live on the island of Maui and film all over the Hawaiian islands. There are no travel fees for anywhere on Maui, including Hana.
For the other Hawaiian islands, I do charge a travel fee which includes: 1 night stay (preferably where you are staying), rental car for 1 day, and roundtrip flight. If you book the Ali’i (multi-day) package, there are no travel fees for inter-island.
Mainland & international weddings require a custom quote.
Can we pick the music?
So I already went over this a little bit on my experience page but picking the music for your film is kinda my superpower lol!
I want to blow you away with your wedding film and if you help pick out the initial song, you’ve had a sneak peek at the process. You won’t be as excited when watching your film the first time. I want the whole experience to be 100% fresh and new!
What if we don’t want our vows in the film?
That is totally ok! I've had couples in the past who were very private and didn’t want to share their vows with even family and friends. The great thing about your wedding, is it’s your wedding!
What I’ve done in the past if you don’t want your vows in the main video is to still film (and record the audio) for you and then send a private video containing just these special moments. After that, it’s up to you if you want to share them or not.
Do we need to feed you?
Yes please! For all my wedding packages you will need to provide a vendor meal for my second shooter and I.
For elopements no vendor meal is needed.
I don’t know which package to choose from, what do you suggest?
If you’re struggling to decide how long to have video coverage for please consider 3 things:
Budget - Every wedding has a budget and this plays a big factor into how long you can book a videographer for. That being said, it’s best to book the videographer for just as long as the photographer. We work together to capture every moment!
Audio - One thing that photos can’t bring back is all the important audio moments. The first look, ceremony, and toasts are the most important moments for videographers to be present for. At the very least book a videographer to cover these moments!
Quality - Weddings are live events, they aren’t repeatable (no do-overs lol). I always try my best to create the best film I can for my couples but I’m only able to create with what I’m given. There will be a big difference in the quality of a film from a 1 hour wedding vs a 10 hour wedding. The longer you book me for helps give me the tools to create a better wedding film!
Can I customize my package?
Yes! I’ve designed my package system and add-ons to be very customizable. Certain add-ons can even be purchased after the wedding is over.
Do you backup the footage and for how long?
During filming I always dual record to two SD cards per camera. So right away there is one backup. Immediately after the wedding is over and once I get home I start backing up the footage to an external drive. Then I backup all the footage again to an external drive at my office. Lastly I upload all the footage to Google Drive.
I guarantee your footage will be safely backed up for one year after the wedding.
Do you pose or direct us?
A mix of both!
I try my best to capture candid shots (the in-between moments) but if a shot comes to mind in the moment or the light looks great, I will do a little bit of directing. I’ll make you both look real good!
My main goal is for you to enjoy your day and that includes working with me. I won’t make you do the same thing over and over again to get the perfect shot. In my opinion the imperfect shots are sometimes even better!
Do you ever shoot on real film?
Yes! I have an add-on to include real super 8 footage into your Highlight film. Here is an example: Super 8
What if we already booked a videographer but want you for super 8?
No problem! You can book me for just Super 8 and I will work with the team you hired already!
We are still searching for other wedding vendors, can you recommend some favorites?
I would love to! I’ve actually created a whole page with lots of information, full of vendors for all parts of your wedding!
